Shingles Vaccine now available in Hampshire and Sussex

Shingles is an infection of a nerve and the area of skin around it. It is caused by the herpes varicella-zoster virus, which also causes chickenpox.

90% of the population have had chicken pox, and out of these 1 in 4 will go on to get shingles.

We offer Zostavax which protects against shingles.

It is available to all adults aged 50 and over and is given as a one off jab in the arm.

Zostavax is not currently available on the NHS.

Zostavax not only protects you from shingles, but also the most common consequence of the infection, namely Post Herpetic Neuralgia. This can be a severe, burning , long term nerve pain, that results from the damage caused by the virus.
